The Hampton Hopper Hits the Road Starting June 27th!

Long Island, New York (June 20th, 2014) – Launching June 27th, the Hampton Hopper is the latest and greatest mode of transportation and socialization to hit the East End in decades. The Hampton Hopper is a new social club that will use technology and transportation to make getting around the Hamptons in the Summer more affordable, convenient, and fun. “Whether you’re a Summer visitor who needs to get around without a car, or a lifelong resident just trying to meet friends for dinner in the next village over, getting around the Hamptons in the Summer can be aggravating, expensive, and even unsafe,” claims founder Derek Kleinow.  “After years of wishing for another option that’s both convenient and affordable, we finally decided to make one.” The Hampton Hopper hopes to make Summer in the Hamptons a bit easier to navigate and embrace by combining a network of signature light-green buses with a mobile app for iPhone (and soon Android) that lets riders see where the stops are, when they are open, where the Hopper vehicles are, and when the next Hopper is arriving.  According to Kleinow, “the app is what makes the Hampton Hopper so convenient and easy to use.”  The Hampton Hopper app is currently available in the Apple App Store by searching “Hampton Hopper” or by visiting The Hampton Hopper will launch its first route on June 27th, making stops in East Hampton, Amagansett, and Montauk villages, as well as popular establishments like Cyril’s and Surf Lodge in the afternoon and evenings.  See all the stops and locations on our app or at Service will kick off at 4pm on Fridays, and run all day on Saturdays and Sundays until 2am.  Hoppers will initially run approximately every hour, but as the service expands, frequency should improve to as little as 30 minutes.  Perhaps the best feature of all, the Hampton Hopper will be free for first-time riders who download the mobile app.  Daily memberships will then start at $20, available on-board or in-app, with weekend, monthly, and seasonal passes also available from the app. The Hamptons is not just a place many people are honored to call home, but is also a popular Summertime destination that sees its population quadruple in season. Over the years, as the seasonal population has increased, so has the incidence of traffic and drunk driving.  By providing a new, convenient option to residents and visitors alike, the Hampton Hopper hopes it can tackle both.
